Bathroom Conversion – Bath to Shower Upgrade
The client wanted to improve the safety and accessibility of the bathroom, as elderly parents were finding it difficult to get in and out of the existing bath. The goal was to create a more practical and comfortable shower-only space that would be easier to use on a daily basis.
To begin the project, floor protection and dust curtains were installed throughout the work area to help keep the home clean and minimise disruption during the renovation. The existing bath and wall linings were then carefully removed to prepare the room for the new layout.
As part of the upgrade, a false wall was built to neatly conceal the plumbing pipes behind the shower area, creating a cleaner and more modern finish. Plumbing changes were completed to suit the new shower design before the walls were re-sheeted and prepared for waterproofing. Timber noggins were also installed within the walls to provide strong support for future grab rail installation, helping improve safety and accessibility for the users.
The bathroom was then fully waterproofed and flood tested to ensure everything was sealed correctly before tiling began. A new screed was installed to create the correct fall for drainage, followed by the installation of the new tiles and partition screen to complete the shower area.
To finish the renovation, the ceiling was patched and freshly painted to blend seamlessly with the updated bathroom. All rubbish and construction waste were removed from the site, leaving the area clean, tidy, and ready for use.
The completed bathroom now provides a safer, more accessible shower space with a clean and modern finish, designed to better suit the needs of the household.
