Timber Patio Structural Repairs & Decking Replacement
For this project, Cavell Tiling and Bathroom Renovations was called in to restore a timber patio entry that had suffered extensive structural damage. Carpenter ants had completely chewed through the floor joists, resulting in the collapse of the deck area.
Our team began by safely removing the handrails and timber decking, before treating the area to eliminate the ant infestation. We then acrow-propped the roof to ensure structural safety while we removed and replaced the damaged joists.
To increase the longevity of the new structure, all new floor joists were painted and protected with Protectadeck tape before installation. Once secured, we laid fresh timber decking and reinstalled the existing handrails and wire balustrades.
The client chose to complete the final painting themselves. The result was a refreshed, structurally-sound patio area that is ready for years of use.
