Leaking Shower Base & Wet Concrete Slab – Full Bathroom Renovation Project
At Cavell Tiling & Bathroom Renovations, we were called to fix a leaking shower base that had caused water to run under the tiles and out through the doorway, damaging the floating floor in the hallway.
On inspection, we discovered the shower base was rotten — just a sheet of plywood painted with waterproof paint and with no proper fall to the waste. To ensure a lasting solution, we carried out a full renovation:
Removed tiles, fibro sheeting, shower base and flooring, then ground the concrete slab clean.
Updated the wall plumbing, re-sheeted the walls, and installed a bonded screed with correct falls.
Applied solvent-based polyurethane waterproofing, followed by a 48-hour flood test.
Installed a reinforced floating screed, waterproofed again, and tiled and grouted to the client’s specifications.
Epoxy-grouted the walls and completed the plumbing fit-off.
Finished the project with a new vanity, shower screen, and mirrored shaving cabinet.
The result is a fully rebuilt, watertight bathroom with a professional finish that will stand the test of time.
